Pakistan calls for peaceful resolution of Iran’s nuclear programme

At the United Nations‚ Pakistan has called for seeking a peaceful resolution of Iran’s nuclear programme.

Speaking at the Security Council‚ Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations‚ Masood Khan said a negotiated solution needs to be facilitated by striking a balance between sanctions and negotiations.
He said any confrontation over Iran’s nuclear standoff with the west could further destabilize the already volatile region.

Welcoming the recent talks between Iran and 6 major powers at Almaty‚ the Pakistani envoy hoped that the positive and conciliatory overtures and statements would lead to results.

Masood Khan opined that a peaceful resolution of the issue is possible on the basis of reciprocal confidence-building measures and the necessary steps to ensure Iran’s right to peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
