Local leaders of PML-N, Major (Retd) Liaquat Ali Gilani and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Libas Khan Thursday announced to join Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) by expressing confidence in its leadership.
Both political leaders announced their decision in the presence of president, PPP, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Anwar Saifullah Khan. Provincial secretary information, PPP, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Excise & Taxation, Liaquat Shabab, Saeed Ahmad Khan, Akbar Khan advocate, Nighat Yasmin Orakzai, Sher Azam Wazir and Zamin Khan advocate were also present on the occasion.
Announcing his decision of quitting PML-N, Liaquat Ali Gilani said he is joining PPP under the leadership of Anwar Saifullah Khan unconditionally.
He said that he was invited to the party by Liaquat Shabab, Mian Yahya Shah and Mian Rahim Shah and pledged to remain loyal to the party till death.
Speaking on the occasion, provincial president, PPP, Anwar Saifullah Khan said they are recommending the name of Major (Retd) Liaquat Ali Gilani as candidate from NA-6, Nowshera II, saying he will prove a strong candidate for the party.
The PPP provincial chief said that PPP is the largest political party both at national and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa levels.
He said that the joining of the large number of political activists of different political parties had further turned it into an invincible political force.
He said that the people will vote PPP on the basis of its remarkable five-year performance.
To a question regarding formulation of interim sit-up, he said this while holding a dialogue with chief minister several names have been come forward while opposition leader, Akram Khan Durrani had also given some names.
However, he said so far no final decision has been made in this regard.
He said several names including Abbas Khan are good persons, saying the matter will be resolved in one or three days.
Regarding distribution of party ticket for upcoming general elections, he said it will be awarded in consultations with district cabinet. He said for each constituency three names will be given as covering candidates.
